Linux Mint is free, open-source operating system for desktop and laptop computers. It's designed to be easy to use and comes with many free applications. 

 

Features

 Linux Mint's features include: Centralized software updates, System snapshots, An Update Manager, and Steam and GOG.  

  • Applications: Includes Blender, Gimp, Inkscape, LibreOffice, Firefox, Spotify, and more 
  • Desktop environment: Cinnamon, but also offers Xfce and MATE 
  • Power modes: Power-saver mode and Balanced mode to balance performance and power saving

  •  Updates: Conservative software updates and a unique Update Manager

Installation

  • Linux Mint is designed to work on most modern systems, including x86 and x64 PCs 
  • It can automatically set up a “dual boot” or “multi-boot” environment
  • You can check that you are downloading the official ISO image by verifying the sha256sum.txt and sha256sum.txt.gpg files

  • The Linux Mint project started in 2006
  • The latest release is Linux Mint 22.1 "Xia", released on January 16, 

 Linux Mint Requirements:

The minimum requirements for Linux Mint are 2 GB of RAM, 20 GB of disk space, and a resolution of 1024 x 768, 4 GB of RAM and 100 GB of disk space are recommended. 

  • Linux Mint is available in 64-bit and 32-bit variants. However, only 64-bit architecture is supported starting with Linux Mint 20.
  • Processors without Physical Address Extension (PAE) are not supported.
